This is really interesting! It's a really great blog - no wonder it gets so many hits!

I'm British and live in Nagoya, Japan. I first found your blog when I was planning my hiking trip to Yakushima in August. I was planning to do the island traverse until I read your post about the leeches! Thanks to you, we missed out that first section of the hike and had a wonderful time. I have been keeping up with your adventures ever since! Thanks for all the insights!

I obviously represent Vermont...surely that is no big mystery! :-) I've been living vicariously through your blog and I'm impressed with the thoroughness of your narrative. I'm not surprised you've attracted the attention of unexpected folks across the globe! I will be glad to see you again when you're back in the States, but the blog has been an ingenious way to stay in touch in the meantime!

Thanks,

This did sort of start out as a way to let everyone back at home know what we were doing, but it is kind of cool how the information can be useful to everyone else as well. Yeah Google!

I don't know how much you like living in Japan, it must be hard sometimes as a Ganjin. However, I do remeber noba-beriu, ramen, Onsens and on-time trains logingly, so I am a little jeleous.

Glad the hike worked out for you.
